Generational Sin-In Shock-What Does This Mean?

Generational Sin-In Shock-What Does This Mean?
According to Ezekiel 18, you are NOT guilty for the sins of your forefathers.
How can you be responsible fo r something you did not do ???
What about this scripture? God says that He will punish up to the third and fourth generation.

'You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents(the idol worshipers, arrogant and proud)to the third and fourth generation of those who reject me but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments.'(Deuteronomy 5:8-10)
This generational sin that carries over after someone receives Christ... is something the Deliverance Movement fabricated. It is a false teaching that is used to keep people in bondage and there is nothing in the Bible to back it up.

There is only One who heals and delivers...His name is Jesus... and He completed the work on the cross. What you are claiming is that even though someone has accepted Him as their Lord and Savior, the sins of their ancestors somehow carry over and you bear the burden for them. This teaching is in direct opposition to the Word of God. Again, the work was done on the cross...it is finished...

8 "For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light." -Ephesians 5

17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." -II Corinthians 5

"If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." 33 They answered Him, "We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, 'You will be made free'?" 34 Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." -John 8
Romans 14:12 So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Elyon, the scripture you posted comes from a time when God's people did not have the blood of Jesus and they were known for falling into idol worship, coming back to God, falling etc.

You live here:
Romans 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, 7 because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God ; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, 8 and those who are in the flesh cannot *please God. 9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. 10 If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Deuteronomy 24:16 says that "Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin."

Ezekiel 18, particularly verses 14 through 21, blast away any idea of so-called generational curses, which I believe is a lie and deception that many churches have fallen for.
You have been washed by the blood of the Lamb - you couldn't be any cleaner! Yes, use this time to renounce the devil's lies and reaffirm God's truths: you have been washed in the blood, your sin is forgiven, and you are seated in heavenly places (Eph. 2 - that's your legal status: with God in His place. Your body is still on earth, but you'll get a new one some day that will be glorified like Jesus' is).
You do have a relationship with Him because He died to forgive any sin you would have 2000 years later (and He rose from the dead so it proves all the future sin is forgiven) and He gave you faith (Heb. 12:2 says He is the author of your faith) to believe Him and thus He has given you salvation. You didn't do anything to get your salvation (because it was done before you were born) and nothing your grandfather did will take your salvation away because it's all between God and you.
To know the Son is to know the Father; the Bible says so and as you continue to read your Bible you'll see it says so. The more you're into your Bible every day the harder it will be for the devil to fool you. Three chapters a day will get you through it in a year. Then start over and read it every year!
